Welcome, friend! My name is Kimberly, and I’m here to do this boy mom thing alongside you.
I have three little guys, ages 6, 4, and 3. Here we all are, along with the fake blog name each boy has personally chosen for himself and adopted (Aren’t you glad your mom didn’t make you choose your own name when you were four years old?! ):
They’ve been one of the greatest joys of my life, and I love being their mom. But I gotta tell you. It’s not always easy.
There’s the dirt (always the dirt!), the constant cacophony of activity, the need to jump off the highest object around, the race to win everything, the punching/kicking/wrestling/head-vising, and the perpetual gross body parts jokes. Though I would like to say that I manage all this with patience, love, and gentle instruction, the truth is, you’re more likely to hear me yelling, “Get off your brother’s head!” or “No, you can’t shove the rabbit up the chimney!”
Most days are somewhere between hilarious and total chaos. Now that I think about it, it’s a lot like living with The Three Stooges.
I’m also a Christ-Follower
Sooooooo . . . .that adds a great big layer of complication when I’d rather yell than pray, or complain instead of cultivate gratitude. Even so, I really do want to embrace motherhood the way God intends me to do it. I’m on a life-long mission to grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control–so that I can teach my boys about our great God.
And while I’m at it, I’d also like to make some stuff. 🙂
I love to create! Boys’ room decor. Sew. Paint. Stuff for the boys to do. Science-y stuff. Fun stuff. Planners and calendars. Art. You name it, I wanna make it.
And that’s why I started this blog!
Here on these pages you will find:
- Practical ways I’ve found to Calm the Chaos in our every day lives (like getting organized, getting rid of gross smells, and ways to keep your sanity)
- Candid thoughts on Biblical Motherhood and raising boys who grow into men that love God.
- And last, but never least, Let’s Make Something. 🙂 Let’s sew it, paint it, build it, light it up, blow it up….Let’s do it!
I’m so glad to have you along the journey with me. Grab a cup of coffee, send your boys outside, and settle in for a look around. I hope you find a spark or two of creativity for your hands and encouragement for your soul — or if nothing else, maybe something to keep your three year old busy for five minutes so you can go use the bathroom. 🙂
Wait, while you’re here….
